This past weekend was a powerful reflection of what it truly means to come together as a community in support of animals who need us most.
Brownie’s Mutt Strut continues to serve as a cornerstone event for Halifax Humane Society, and this year carried an energy and sense of purpose that was felt across every part of the weekend. From the Lohman Pet Adoption Center, to our PetSmart Adopt Joy event, and throughout Mutt Strut itself, the level of support and engagement made it clear just how deeply this community stands behind our lifesaving mission.
Over the course of three days, 53 pets found loving homes. What unfolded over the weekend was something truly special, as family after family stepped forward to welcome a new companion.
This incredible outcome was made possible in part by the support of Hill’s Pet Nutrition, who sponsored every adoption fee throughout the weekend.
This weekend also marked the conclusion of the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Lifesaving Raffle. This initiative brought together supporters from near and far, all contributing to the same goal of helping animals in our community. Jennifer Coyle was announced as the winner, having taken a chance from New Jersey after seeing the raffle and feeling a connection to Daytona, her family vacation spot, and the work being done at Halifax Humane Society.
That collective support resulted in more than $66,000 raised to advance our lifesaving mission. These funds directly support the care we provide every day, from medical treatment and shelter to the resources needed to give each animal the opportunity for a better future.

Their continued partnership is instrumental in the success of both Mutt Strut and the raffle, and their commitment to this community plays a meaningful role in expanding the impact of our work. Through their support, more animals receive the care they need, and more families can experience the joy of adoption.
