Lost a pet? Halifax Humane Society partners with Petco Love Lost to help reunite lost pets with their families by using picture-based matching technology. All pets that enter the animal shelter are photographed and listed on Petco Love Lost. You can review found animals, report a lost or found pet, and register your pet if they ever go missing.
REPORT THE PET
Use Petco Love Lost to report the found pet, helping shelters and neighbors quickly reunite lost pets with their owners.
CREATE A SIGN
Create a Lost Pet flier through Petco Love Lost after registering and uploading your pet’s information
Create a Lost Pet sign on the Petco Love Lost website. After you register with Petco Love Lost and upload your missing pet’s photo, you can print your pet listing to create a flyer.
SPREAD THE WORD
Distribute fliers through your neighborhood and at local businesses, veterinary clinics, and community boards.
Canvas your neighborhood and distribute your flyers. Talk to your neighbors, enlist the help of kids, and post your flyers in stores, vet clinics, and bulletin boards.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Share a photo and the location where the pet was found on local community and social media pages.
Use social media sites like Nextdoor, Facebook groups, and community platforms or email lists. Be sure to include a photo of your pet, your pet’s last known location, and your personal contact information.
CHECK MICROCHIP
If it’s safe, have the pet scanned for a microchip to help identify and contact the registered owner.
If your pet is microchipped, alert the microchip company. Report your pet as lost, and make sure your contact information is up to date. To locate the contact information for your microchip company, search the AAHA website.
VISIT THE SHELTER
Visit the shelter every other day to look for your pet, because you’re most likely to recognize them.
You know your pet best and are more likely to recognize your pet in person. We recommend visiting the shelter (at least every other day) to see if your pet has been found.
